Company History
For many
years in the Washington, D.C. area, Williams Enterprises erected bridges
for a local fabricator. When that company stopped fabricating steel
bridge girders, Williams Enterprises, using many of their qualified
people, built a steel bridge girder fabrication shop in Manassas, Virginia,
for the primary purpose of keeping its steel bridge erection business
in the area.
Founded in 1985,
the company became the Fabrication Division of Williams Enterprises.
Its mission was to fabricate bridges for the nation's highway system.
In October 1987, the company acquired a second facility in Richmond,
Virginia. In August 1992, the employees and assets of the Fabrication
Division were transferred to the newly formed Williams Bridge Company.
Today, WBC is a leading member of the Williams Industries, Inc., corporate
family.
WBC has steadily
grown and has become a major fabricator of structural steel for bridge
superstructures. The company is fabricates heavy industrial and commercial
structural steel in addition to large, complicated plate weldments and
other specialized products.
WBC maintains the
highest standards with an AISC Category III Certification with both
"Fracture Critical" and "Sophisticated Paint" endorsements.
The American Institute of Steel Construction is the most widely recognized
association in the nation, representing and serving the fabricated structural
steel industry. Many state highway departments award business only to
those few firms who meet AISC's stringent guidelines.
